IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS THINKING OF SENDING THEIR CHILD TO THE ORCHARDS - ACTION NEEDED

In the weeks leading up to Easter parents of children at Hawthorns and Laurels First Schools should have received  a letter offering an indicative preference option if they still want to send their children to The Orchards from September 2015.  You can still chose The Orchards even though there may be an expectation you will stay at the first school as it becomes a Primary.  Lots of parents have spoken to us saying they still want their children to come to us so now is your chance to make this happen! Our aim is to maintain the fantastic range of opportunities for the children and to give everybody the chance to be part of The Orchards family if they so wish.  We will be having our usual open evening in the Autumn Term to help you with this choice but you will need to make an indication first with your response form that you receive from your first school.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to find out more! Following the council decision to down size our school, the Worthing Herald has a great article.  Read the article click here

We have been praised by West Sussex County Council Strategic Commissioner for Learning, in a letter to Dr Jones our excellent results, above national standards, have been highlighted.

Ironically the same day and following the consultation  Planning Worthing Schools for the Future, the West Sussex County Council The Cabinet Member for Children - Start of Life has decided that our school should be reduced in size, taking 120 pupil places from the school.

Will stand with parents who expressed their feelings at the consultation meeting last year, we believe it is wrong to deny 120 children the chance to attend the school of their choice.

Please read the Worthing Herald article and the latest new letter with detail of how you can help.
